Authordom and Canceled Books in the Time of Severance

Plus new releases and an update on the ASOWAR Special Editions!

Like everyone else on the planet, I am watching Severance. I first heard about the show long after Season 1 had ended, which meant I was able to binge the whole thing in one day. I was immediately hooked: the mystery box elements, the absolutely electric characters, and the increasingly sinister worldbuilding quickly catapulted it to one of my favorite shows in a long time. Watching Season 2 week by week now brings me back to the heyday of Game of Thrones when the best part of Monday was knowing that I got to talk with my coworkers about plotting and character and setting work from the day before.

In the most recent episode as of this writing, Episode 209 “The After Hours”, there's a moment that struck me so deeply in regards to author life that I feel compelled to write a newsletter about it. In this entry, I’m also going to talk about some behind-the-scenes moments in my own career, including talking publicly for the first time about cancelling a book.

I’m going to put the rest of it below the subscriber break, so heads up for Severance spoilers for Season 2, Episode 9 below!
